Light and Dark: a moonlit wilderness surrounded by the pitch black of night
Location: Del Mar, CA
Initially starting as a concept attempting to implement dark/horror type themes into a landscape, it has slowly evolved into a botanic garden revolving around two main areas, "the light of the moon" and "the dark of the sun". While it might sound fancy, these concepts just describe the inherent humor in the fact that if a moon garden is represented by pure white flora, then, in contrast, a sun garden would be represented by dark flora. More than anything it has been a fun way to showcase a palette made of plants that are not traditionally implemented into most landscape architecture projects, and take the concept of a moon garden to its limits.
