The Eaton Fire, which affected the Altadena and Pasadena communities in January 2025, destroyed the Eaton Canyon Nature Center. This nature center, located in the San Gabriel Mountains, was an educational as well as a recreational space. My goal for this project was to rebuild a nature center with a fire demonstration garden to educate the public on how to prepare their homes and businesses for wildfires through planting design and material choices.

Urban Oasis is a housing community in El Sereno that provides people with
a safe and affordable place to live surrounded by nature while being
connected to the city.
This project intends to explore how natural spaces can be brought into an urban setting and to find creative ways to reimagine underused spaces as medium-density housing.

Out of the Forest, Into the Classroom integrates the natural environment into every aspect of the student’s day. Through outdoor classrooms, school gardens, nature based and forest play, student’s health, academic performance, and social connections will improve simultaneously.

As California transitions to zero-emission mobility, this project proposes a network of nature-based rest stops that connect travelers to the land and create meaningful moments between people and place. We are entering one of the largest energy infrastructure transitions in decades. We can either repeat the mistakes of gas stations, or rethink it.

"Wild Wonders" aims to utilize land management practices to steward wild mustang horses on safe and healthy routes while revitalizing the natural habitat the horses have degraded. Using systems based land management solutions like rotational grazing, wildlife corridors, and habitat restoration, the mustangs will be fully integrated into the native habitats of Nevada.

Free Flow is a watershed management project focused on restoring the natural hydrology of San Juan Creek in Orange County, California, by addressing pollution, flooding, and increased base flows. The project integrates riparian corridor restoration, permeable riverbanks, and diamond-patterned creek beds to enhance water quality, reduce erosion, and improve habitat resilience.

Located off of Santa Barbara’s coastline stands Platform Holly, a decommissioned oil rig that creates the template for a new evolution of history, one in which oil platforms gain new life. Instead of being removed and causing devastating damage environmentally and economically, this platform converts a past of oil into a sustainable escape that allows for visitors, human and animal species alike, to exist in this new life.

Ventura, CA is one of the many cities throughout the nation that is being targeted by ICE officers. On the west side of the city, a predominantly Latino area, ICE has shattered the idea of safety and unique cultural identity, replacing it with fear, violence, and marginalization.
By utilizing streetscapes and vacant lots in the area, design interventions can work to provide urgent and immediate aid for the Latino immigrant community. These temporary spaces will lay the groundwork for a future of unity and resilience where community members can continue to shape the urban landscape to fit their needs.

My project focuses on identifying the best locations for development in Hunter's Point, San Francisco, while also restoring crucial wetland habitats. This restoration will create opportunities for residents to connect with nature and provide educational resources for both children and adults.

The Cortlandt Quarry is a 99-acre former limestone quarry along the Hudson River that has long functioned as an unofficial destination for swimming, cliff diving, and gathering among submerged industrial ruins. Despite being closed to the public, its dramatic flooded basin continues to attract visitors, resulting in safety risks and unrealized ecological and economic potential.
This project transforms the quarry from an informal and dangerous landscape into a regulated civic and cultural destination.

The inception of the Experimental Laboratory was birthed from the mind of our founder, George Hasslein, who envisioned a space where CAED students could push the boundaries of design, construction, and fabrication — bringing life from nothing. 80 years later, the Experimental Laboratory now stands abandoned, underutilized, and forgotten — a graveyard of unrealized potential. Thus, introducing Midnight Epiphany — the dream that could have been.

Inspired by the rapidly arising opportunities I saw in artificial intelligence, this project is a digital tool to communicate the opportunities and benefits a native landscape can provide to a residential homeowner and their greater local ecology. The key goals include accurately automating the plant selection process, making educated suggestions to ecologically support native fauna and pollinators, and ensuring accessibility to knowledge about enhancing home landscapes.

Blooming Behind Bars envisions a transformative redesign of San Quentin
State Prison, presenting a new system that is focused on rehabilitation and
educational and vocational development. The project advocates for the
implementation of programs with a focus on horticulture.

This project explores how landscape architecture can mitigate particulate matter and noise pollution around San Jose International Airport while enhancing the urban environment.

The town of Lahaina burned down in August of 2023 due to many factors such as a passing hurricane, systematic drought, and old infrastructure. The design aims to combat displacement through gentrification often resulted after disaster capitalism. Prioritizing the residents, the project will help reenvison an area underutilized by the community that will honor, restore, and enhance the spaces that defines Lahaina.

Outdated design strategies in American schoolyards and historic land-based inequities continue to disproportionately burden BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) communities. At Park Avenue Elementary School, this is especially pronounced: while asphalt was used during cleanup efforts to address the site’s history as an unregulated dump, this surface merely masks deeper issues rather than fully remediating the land. With the children, and all occupants of the land in mind, this design transforms the schoolyard from an anthropogenic mess into a wild (+ peaceful) classroom, in nature.

The “Rooted in Rebirth” project reimagines the Oakland Coliseum grounds, addressing critical challenges like a struggling ecosystem, urban heat island effects, flooding from sea level rise, and the urgent issue of homelessness in Oakland

Contaminated landscapes are often seen as permanently damaged, unusable spaces. So, how can we restore contaminated landscapes, landfills in particular, so that they are capable of being habitable, accessible places for people and animals alike? Landfill Leftovers is a demonstrational landscape design that exposes the life cycle of a landfill: from operation to closure.

Small-scale interventions, such as the enhancement of vegetation, can contribute to cooling neighborhoods, while more substantial efforts, like restructuring streetscapes and repurposing underutilized parking lots into parks, can significantly improve public spaces. Through the implementation of these strategies, rural communities can cultivate cooler, more connected outdoor environments, promoting public health and enhancing residents’ quality of life.

The mission is to transform the Ventura River watershed through nature-based solutions, addressing the challenges posed by the removal of the Matilija Dam. This project intends to mitigate flood risks, recharge groundwater, revive riparian habitats, and enhance community opportunities along the watershed.

This project seeks to empower and restore the resilience of communities in Mauritania’s Sahel region through a phenomenological approach that honors local traditions, lived experiences, and deep connections to the land.

This design aims to create an environment where residents near the border can reconnect with clean water and where green space fosters a sense of community. Instead of being greeted by pollution and poverty, visitors and residents will be welcomed with greenery and the richness of prosperity.

This project aims to reimagine access to the coast by providing an alternate route for vehicles, allowing for a new experience for pedestrians with landscape design strategies that are implemented to mitigate for future landslide events.

California’s Great America, an amusement park cherished by many, is set to close permanently in 2033. “Beyond Thrills” re-imagines the park’s legacy, providing an alternative perspective of introducing new amenities and programs that align with modern needs today.

Beneath the Fog of San Francisco lies a dynamic coastline shaped by generations, from native dunes to iconic coastal amusement parks, yet modern challenges raise questions about the future of its infrastructure, like the Great Highway. As the city evolves, this project offers bold solutions to reimagine the coastline from a people-centered perspective, inviting us to preserve, innovate, and honor the area's natural and cultural significance.

The city of Guangzhou, China was built upon its extensive river system. However, with rapid urbanization, industrialization, and pollution, many of these waterways face environmental
challenges, causing them to fade from the lives of the city’s residents. This project
hopes to reconnect people to the water in this highly urbanized landscape while
enhancing the resilience of the river system to meet the challenges posed by evolving
climate patterns of the future.

To promote overall well-being at Sonora High School, a proposed redesign is guided by Gathering, Nutrition, and Movement. All three of these ideas intertwine within a solar concept, illustrating how a harvest derived from the sun can
unite a community.

This project reimagines the world’s most dangerous air base as a refuge for the Okinawan people and island visitors, proposing a master plan for a connected, multi-generational community free of cars.

Railway Roots re-imagines the old 16th Street Train Station, located in the heart of the neighborhood, as a community driven space where history, sustainability, and local culture intersect. Rooted in the bay area’s brewing heritage—especially the legacy of steam beer—this project transforms the site into a sustainable brewery and community hub that honors both the industrial past and a more sustainable future.

The Carlsbad Experience offers a redesign proposal for the Shoppes at Carlsbad mall in Carlsbad, CA with a central theme of creating multi-use spaces. Through implementing outdoor shopping, residential apartments, sports amenities, and emphasized ecological improvements, the Carlsbad Experience offers alternative ideas for how the space could be utilized and serve its community.

Venn is a socio-agricultural enterprise that works within Central California’s agriculture landscapes to restore degraded ecosystems and bring community space, housing, and jobs to people in need. This project approaches the issues of work-related abuse and environmental degradation in the American agriculture industry and aims to provide an alternative to industrial farming and traditional social housing.

The master plan transforms an underutilized parking structure and surrounding mall site into an active community destination. A large portion of the structure is removed, while the remaining levels are adaptively reused as "fields of play," including a playground, skate space, track, and sculpture garden. New green space, a multisport field, food truck areas, and purchasable apartments introduce recreation, housing, and local economic activity to create a more vibrant and connected district.

Nestled in the heart of Hawthorne, California, the Hawthorne Plaza Mall stands as a silent, crumbling testament to a vibrant past
overshadowed by the relentless march of time and economic shifts. Once a bustling epicenter of retail, today it whispers tales of decay, abandonment, and forgotten architectural grandeur.

This project is a botanic garden revolving around two main areas, "the light of the moon" and "the dark of the sun," taking a moon garden concept to its limits.

For The Birds is a master plan for habitat restoration and the establishment of ecotourism infrastructure in the wetlands surrounding Alameda Creek. This project explores the coexistence of human and avian communities in both the short and long term.

At the Memorial Woodlands Botanical Gardens, we meld
a profound fascination with cemeteries, the art of landscape architecture, a profound respect for the universal human experience of death, and increasing environmental sustainability
into a mission of timeless significance. We understand that death can be a fearful concept, but it can also be a source of profound beauty, which we aim to spread in this garden experience.

In response to California’s recent oil extraction phase-out initiatives in tandem with residents’ concerns over exposure to harmful petroleum pollution, the project seeks to remediate the Inglewood Oil Field, transforming it into a regional hub that champions regeneration, resilience, and community.

In this project, I explore the psychological reasons people visit mines and propose a precedent for how abandoned historical places can be transformed into "adventure-scapes" where people can explore, express, and escape safely.

The Thailand-Cambodia border at Preah Vihear is defined by systemic fragility: social fragmentation, economic precarity, and ecological decay. This proposal reframes the contested edge as a stabilizing landscape system designed to absorb shocks and accelerate recovery, providing a robust infrastructure for staying.

In Westminster, a city with only 1.0 acre of parkland per 1,000 residents, this project aims to transform underutilized urban space into a critical community resource that addresses the nature deficit disorder prevalent in park-poor neighborhoods.

"Beyond the Bench" reimagines bus stops in San Luis Obispo to encourage public transit use by transforming them into engaging, multi-purpose spaces. Addressing rising air pollution and low ridership, the design introduces four adaptable bus stop typologies: garden, activity, shelter, and art.

The identity of Morro Bay is rooted in both natural and man-made monuments. Contrasting one another, the 450 foot smokestacks stand in opposition to the equally large and beautiful Morro Rock. With the Wind takes advantage of contrast in and around the site through a re-design of the abandoned power plant surrounding the stacks and imagines the intersection of open space, historically significant structures, and the social-technological changes that surround Morro Bay today.

Located at the heart of downtown Los Angeles, South Figueroa directly connects 4 key Olympic venues and Union Station, making it an ideal corridor for transformation. The vision turns this space into a vibrant, pedestrian-focused area, where both residents and visitors from around the world can gather.

This project is to safeguard the community of Shishmaref from the impacts of climate change. Due to it being
located on a barrier island, it is facing numerous dilemmas such as rising sea levels, erosion, and thawing permafrost. This is causing damage to the village's infrastructure,
homes, and traditional way of life.

Humans have an essential need for movement and connection. Designing interactive, multi-sensory urban spaces around movement can inspire people to discover hidden connections, reimagine familiar places, and engage with the city in unexpected, creative ways. These spaces become dynamic landscapes that evolve with time and nature, shaped by the movements and interactions of the people who bring them to life.

This project reimagines Sempervirens Campground as a space where art and nature intersect, aiming to inspire deeper connections between visitors, creative expression, and the natural world, cultivating a shared commitment to the park’s renewal and long-term stewardship.

transformation of a 2.8-mile urban corridor, Azadi
Avenue, located in Tehran, Iran, into a vibrant and
pedestrian-friendly civic space. With a focus on
revitalizing key aspects of urban infrastructure,
mobility, safety, and sustainability, the project aims to catalyze long-term social change in the surrounding
community.

ConnectED Center is a pioneering initiative poised to revolutionize vocational education for
adults with learning disabilities, with a focus on autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In partnership with West Side Community Council non-profit, we are creating state-of-the-art mixed-use trade school environments nationwide, starting with this project in West Ventura, CA.

The unhoused population is a growing primary user of the public landscapes we design. In response to the visibility of houselessness, architecture has utilized design to dehumanize, deter, and disappear people experiencing houselessness. Cities' "out of sight, out of mind" response causes issues socially, environmentally, and economically.
Care in Public Space is a research project that started with the question, "Can landscape architecture play a meaningful role in the issue of houselessness in San Luis Obispo?"

The Duwamish River, once a thriving landscape of tidal marshes and forests, was forcibly straightened and paved to make way for industrial development. Through a series of land-based interventions, and a re-imagining of thresholds between land and water, the project aims to restore connections between land, river, and people.

This project investigates how the Laguna-Seca Raceway can be transformed into a multi-functional space that honors its history in the world of racing, mitigates sound pollution caused by racing, and offers new activities to extend the functionality of the site.

Located in several spots above Interstate 5 in Downtown San
Diego, the lids serve as parks that reunites areas once divided
by the freeway.

The Guadalupe River watershed is contaminated with mercury from mining practices in the 1840s, leading to Almaden Lake being filled with mercury-polluted water. This project looks to remediate the contaminated water, increase and improve wildlife habitat, and revitalize recreational and educational amenities for visitors.

This Portland park aims to use the public realm to guide us to pay attention to the earth’s abundant forces that give us life; sun, wind, and water, among others
and furthermore bring renewable energy technology into the public consciousness. The park provides an immersive means to discover the wonders and delights of
renewable energy technology.

Located in Oakland California, this recreational design for a site in Joaquin Miller Park enhances the existing circulation, preserves the existing vegetation and topography, and provides diverse fun activities for visitors of all ages.
This project intends to create a safer community within Oakland, as the park and site amenities would attract many more visitors and lots more attention

S.H.A.D.E LA is a proposal for the Fashion District, one of the oldest
neighborhoods, in Downtown Los Angeles that addresses the urban
heat island effect by providing a set of solutions that improve
walkability within the neighborhood. The design looks to establish the Santee Alley, an iconic alley way, as a centralized location within the Fashion District and incorporates opportunities that boost the local economy

Aliso Elementary is a diverse K-5 public school that is located in close proximity to many of the central CA ecosystems. The proposed redesign uses the estuary-- a space where there is intermixing and unique pockets of space-- as a model for the elementary school's spaces.

Beacon of Hope is the vision of repurposing the
contaminated Hunter Point's Naval Shipyard to become a new thriving neighborhood in the city as well as an opportunity to connect the surrounding impoverished neighborhood back to the greater San Francisco community once more.

Situated on the site of a former power plant in Redondo Beach, The Salina represents a transformative endeavor to restore wetland habitats while harmonizing human
activity with ecological principles. The park’s design embraces the concept of “nature reclaiming structure,” by repurposing
industrial structures and integrating them seamlessly into the evolving landscape.

This project aims to remediate the contamination at the McCormick & Baxter Superfund Site in Portland, Oregon through mycoremediation, while simultaneously creating a platform to explore innovations in materials science, fabrication technology, and temporal design.

My project explores the integration of mycology within urban landscape architecture at the McCormick & Baxter site in Stockton, CA while incorporating community-focused green spaces and ecological resilience strategies.

gathered from community members, Vista Grande Park in La Habra will be redesigned into a safe and flexible play and gathering space for events and everyday life for
multiple generations to come together.

Boyle Heights, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, faces food insecurity. This project aims to improve community well-being by building a support network throughout the neighborhood that empowers residents to grow their own food while providing the knowledge and resources needed for long-term food security.

This project aims to create a comprehensive masterplan
that uses the Salton Sea’s untapped value to support the ecological enhancement of the area and revitalization of the region. Some of the major issues that need to be addressed are lowering water levels, rising salinity, toxic dust storms, the viability of lithium mining, and community health.

With the implementation of healing gardens across school districts, students are able to explore holistic healing methods
and ease their mental wellbeing on their own terms. This project uses three schools in San Jose as case studies.

In the heart of Boyle Heights, Hazard Park Recreation Center is transformed into a wellness focused natural park. Through the integration of breathwork, movement and body awareness, the landscape aims to empower the community to heal from within, addressing not only personal wellness but also engaging in critical environmental conversations such as air pollution and the rise of chronic illnesses.

This proposed urban landscape design project in Capitola aims to revolutionize Capitola Mall, addressing the national
shopping mall epidemic. This innovative approach involves retrofitting the existing mall and its sprawling parking lots,
transforming it into a vibrant, multi-use destination that not only offers recreation and business but also addresses the pressing need for affordable housing.

Los Angeles is currently experiencing rapid development and growth throughout the county. This project proposes temporary public land as a platform for long-term community agency. Working with parcels held by the LA Land Bank, the design establishes landscaping and stewardship programs that build transferable skills, ecological knowledge, and economic opportunity while the land awaits development.

The Audubon Center is located along Central Avenue, the most visited space providing access to the Rio. With a newly built light rail station, and a new pedestrian bridge set to break ground in 2027, the Audubon Center and surrounding properties have the potential to become a cultural landmark for the city.
As identified in RIO PHX draft plans, 16th Street has been identified as a catalyst site of special importance. A former sand and gravel mining pit, the city and its consultant envision it as a pedestrian oriented site with interim active recreation uses including an amphitheater, entertainment, and play spaces.

This project investigates the dynamic interplay of form, program, and concept, drawing inspiration from historic piers that have been reshaped by storm surges. Dynamic Revival introduces distinctive movement, artistic installations, community engagement, and architectural elements that enrich the Jersey City skyline.

Beyond Monoculture proposes a regenerative community farm in El Centro, located in the agricultural landscape of Imperial Valley, a region that produces large amounts of food but faces high rates of food insecurity. The design explores how farming can become a place that not only grows food, but also supports soil health, learning, and community connection.

By integrating traditional farming practices, ecological restoration, and innovative educational tourism, this project seeks to transform the Ala Wai canal into a living system that honors Hawaii’s heritage while fostering a sustainable future.

Finding Community in Confinement is an innovative redesign of the outdoor yards in California Men’s Colony, San Luis Obispo. This project explores how landscape architecture can create solutions to the issue of recidivism, which is the tendency for criminals to re-offend after being released causing them to end up back in the system.

A food oriented greenway that teaches a community about the origins of their produce. This project revitalizes the agricultural heritage of Brentwood in a way that invites the community to explore creating a more lively environment for people of all ages. Food for thought on empty lots.

In 1916, the Union Lumber Company constructed a railroad called the Ten Mile Railroad line to carry redwood logs to mills in town. In 1945, the railroad was removed and replaced with truck haulage. In recent years, the road, no longer used by the logging industry, has been converted to pedestrian-only use The trail now connects walkers, runners, and bikers to multiple historic sites along the coast in Fort Bragg.

Roots Over Roads is a community-informed planning framework for decommissioning Oakland's underutilized 1-980 corridor and reconnecting West Oakland to downtown and Oakland to its waterfront. Organized through three strategies-Mend, Root, and Bloom—it restores the street grid, supports cultural memory and collective ownership, and transforms the corridor into a resilient civic and ecological spine shaped by community priorities.

Project Health aims to merge mental health practices with landscape architecture via the practice of Ecotherapy. 172 acres of unused and polluted land is remediated and repurposed to provide a safe and controlled outdoor experience for both inpatient and outpatient individuals struggling to maintain their mental balance.

My project will address the dilemma of deforestation and habitat fragmentation of the Atlantic Forest in the São João River Basin by creating a network of trails, public parks, and green spaces along the urban river Rio Bonito, fostering ecological connectivity and enhancing the urban matrix.

Many heritage crafts have almost become extinct. I’ve designed a craft heritage museum in order to educate children and their families on the crafts brought over to the US by European immigrants. My design will foster learning through play, and entertain visitors.

The mission is to design and implement a renewable energy landscape in the Carrizo Plain that generates sustainable energy while protecting and enhancing the local ecosystem. By integrating wind and solar power systems into the natural landscape, this project will create a model for how renewable energy infrastructure can coexist with sensitive environments.

At the heart of Mission Canyon, a vision for historical reverence and ecological
consciousness is set to rejuvenate the community’s connection to its rich cultural and
environmental tapestry. This master plan is a revival of spirit, honoring the land’s past while nurturing its future, stretching from the storied Mission Historic Park to the iconic Mission Dam and Aqueduct

Wine tasting reimagined. Creating a new and unique experience for wine tasting that will allow one to fully emerge themselves into not only the wine they are drinking but the experience of visiting the winery.

By taking inspiration from nature and recreating native environments, I strive to modernize
traditional zoological design by creating an innovative grizzly bear habitat that harmonizes the natural world and built environment by connecting conservation, culture, entertainment and education under a single experience at the Santa Barbara Zoo.

Olympic Revival focuses on revitalizing a space that originally only fi t a single
mold, to host Olympic games, and to create a space that gives back to the people
and the environment that surrounds it. Although there are future plans for
redevelopment, they have been suspended in time since the games ended in
2016 and are a display of potential for the future. In this way, Olympic Revival is an interim design that will provide social amenities, educational opportunities, and
environmental resiliency on site indefinitely.

Kenilworth Farms is the redesign of the historical Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, transforming the fairgrounds into a vibrant, sustainable, and multifunctional community space that is to be open year-round to the community of Petaluma.

Riverside Gardens transforms the historical 200-acre train yard in the heart of downtown LA, commonly known as The Piggyback Yards, into a sustainable affordable housing space. Located directly adjacent to the LA River, the development revives the rivers rich riparian heritage, prioritizing ecological restoration to improve flood defenses and reintroduce natural habitats for the area.

Inspired by the resilience exhibited by the Japanese people in the
aftermath of the 2011 tsunami, this project endeavors to contribute
to the recovery and protection of rural communities along the Japanese
coast. Focusing on revitalizing deserted coastal areas, particularly
within Ogatsu Bay, the initiative aims to investigate agritourism, modern
soil remediation techniques, and an innovative, forested tsunami barrier
approach.

A Fresh Track, a design for a ski resort in Park City Utah, reimagines the conventional ski resort design process by adapting to demand and catering to users through flexible design and
ease of implementation. This project is designed for the future and keeps skiing and snowboarding as a sport alive, whether snow is abundant
or none at all. With new technology and innovative design, A Fresh Tack promotes sustainability, offers skiing and snowboarding all year round,
nurtures the skiing and riding community, and promotes the off-season

West Hollywood, often referred to as WeHo, is a vibrant and inclusive city. located in Los Angeles County, California.
Known for its rich cultural heritage and progressive mindset, West Hollywood has established itself as a hub for art, entertainment, and LGBTQ+ culture. This project proposes a redesign of Plummer Park to better represent the best qualities of this neighborhood.

Los Angeles has a water problem. In any given year, up to 90% of Los Angeles’s water supply is imported from outside the city. Current stormwater capture systems across the city are minimal to nonexistent. As Los Angeles faces water scarcity, flooding, and climate uncertainty, the 2,000-acre Sepulveda Basin along the LA River holds untapped potential to model nature-based infrastructure in the San Fernando Valley. This project introduces natural systems that capture and manage stormwater, shaping community, recreation, and wildlife into cohesive urban spaces that welcome and connect visitors from across Los Angeles.

The vibrant arts community of Queens lacks outdoor spaces for performance and creation within New York City’s dense urban fabric. Echoes of Renewal revitalizes the abandoned New York State Pavilion from the 1964 World’s Fair into an open-air music venue while transforming the surrounding landscape into a dynamic soundscape inside Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
