Open Ocean focuses on restoring marine and terrestrial habitats while engaging the public through education and recreation. The site is the former Diablo Canyon Power Plant, and artificial rocky reefs will support key marine species that have been impacted by plant operations, while terrestrial restoration trails will restore the surrounding landscapes. An aquarium, educational hikes, and outdoor classrooms will provide interactive learning opportunities about local ecology and conservation efforts. By combining habitat restoration with public engagement, the project aims to foster stewardship and appreciation for the region’s natural resources.
