Rooted in Rebirth envisions a transformative future for the Oakland Coliseum site, repurposing the Coliseum itself for affordable housing while turning its vast asphalt landscape into a thriving, climate-adaptive community. By restoring natural ecosystems, replacing heat-trapping pavement with green infrastructure, and designing the landscape to adapt to rising sea levels, this project cools the urban environment, supports wildlife, and integrates affordable housing within the Coliseum while creating public spaces for Oakland’s residents.
