The Cortlandt Quarry is a 99-acre former limestone quarry along the Hudson River that has long functioned as an unofficial destination for swimming, cliff diving, and gathering among submerged industrial ruins. Despite being closed to the public, its dramatic flooded basin continues to attract visitors, resulting in safety risks and unrealized ecological and economic potential.
This project transforms the quarry from an informal and dangerous landscape into a regulated civic and cultural destination.
